I am sharing pictures of things that were in our house, which was destroyed by a fire in January 2008.
I also may put some pictures of my kids in this blog to keep things in perspective for me. Our family lost many possessions in the fire, but luckily we didn't lose each other. Even though this may have been a tough ordeal to go through, things could have been far worse. I can't imagine how my life would have been had any of us died that night. My youngest, who is not even 2 yet, and her sister, age 4, had the room which was most heavily damaged. Had my husband and I been asleep, one or both of them would have died.

The Polar Bear Rug
This is what is left of a rug that used to hang on the wall of my house. It belonged to my grandmother. She bought it in the late 1960s-early 1970s from a traveling salesman in a small town in Canada.
It was a rug that was approximately 6 ft long and about 3-4 ft tall. This is what it used to look like in its' early days.

If anyone has any information on this rug, please pass it along. I need to put a value on this for insurance purposes and any assistance is greatly appreciated.
